Arman Fayyaz, stated during the first edition of the Iran Open-Air Film Festival that This festival provides filmmakers with multiplied motivation to produce road movies, nature-centric films, and environmentally-focused works.
According to the Iran Open-Air Film Festival’s public relations, Arman Fayyaz, renowned cinematographer and instructor of the specialized workshop “Soft Light of Reality” at the first Iran Open-Air Film Festival, remarked: This event is an extraordinary opportunity within Iranian cinema. Our country possesses pristine natural spots, and the direct connection filmmakers establish with nature by attending this film festival leads to extra motivation for creating films on environmental topics.
Fayyaz identified the living conditions as one of the festival’s important features, stating: “The opportunity to be together, build friendships, and collaborate is one of the numerous merits of the Iran Open-Air Film Festival. This allows filmmakers to participate in a festival distinct from other cinematic events in the country and genuinely experience being together.”
The cinematographer of the film “Breakfast with Giraffes” emphasized the importance of connecting with nature for filmmakers active in short film production: “Here, filmmakers have the chance to live in nature. Especially in Iran, with its diverse landscapes, cultures, and lifestyles, this event serves as a way to interact with artists from different regions. This capacity, if held in other areas of the country, will significantly contribute to the production of indigenous short films.
In another part of his remarks, Fayyaz said: “In my opinion, this festival creates multiplied motivation for filmmakers to produce road movies, nature-centric, and environmentally-focused films. Therefore, it can be said that holding such a festival and its continuation will greatly contribute to the advancement of short films in Iran.”
Speaking on the “Soft Light of Reality” workshop held on the second day of the festival, he also mentioned: “The participation of filmmakers in the workshop was exceptionally good, and I believe the filmmakers attending this event are highly motivated and knowledgeable.”
The first edition of the Iran Open-Air Film Festival, chaired by Saeed Nejati, with Siavash Cheraghipour as director, is ongoing until May 20th at the Haft-Mahal Deylamoun Garden Eco-Lodge.
